In 1992, my younger brother was diagnosed with a severe case of Autism just a year after he was born. It was so bad that my parents considered putting him in an assisted living facility. Instead they put him in a school where they could help my brother overcome this disease. After a few years my brother graduated from this school and had improved greatly. When he started regular school he had a "helper," I guess you could call them, who went with him from class to class and took special classes during the day to get the extra help he needed. Now, 11 years after he was diagnosed, my brother is in the sixth grade at our middle school and is taking only a special study hall so his teachers can help him organize himself better and help him with his homework. Autism, like so many other diseases, has no cure and the best treatment is not the treatment you get from the hospital or a special school. The best treatment out there...is hope.

Well in July 2001 my friends cousin Rick was in a very serious Motorcycle Wreck, they didnt know if he was going to make it. The doctor said he wouldnt make it to the hospital, but he did. They said he wasnt going to make it for one week, but he did. Then one day the doctors were atleast 90% sure he was going to die within a matter of days, so they let everyone come in to say hi and bye for the last time, but he didnt die. About a month later Rick waz being taught how to eat, drink, sit on his own, and all the basic stuff. Finally he learned to walk!! Now he is doing very well, the doctors say it is the fastest recovery they have ever seen in a person, a miracle! The only reason Rick made it waz not because he waz on life support, the doctors, or the medicine, the only reason Rick lived is because we kept praying to God evey night and day! He is the only way you will ever make it in tough times in life! God is the way, the truth, and the life!!

My friend Sshleigh's dad was always late for his flights. on September 11, 2001, they all made sure he made his flight, #11. While we were in school talking about our crushes. then we got a call saying to turn on channel 5. And they were showing what was happening in NY city. They showed fire men dragging out some dead bodies from the Buildings and planes. Some you couldn’t see, there was one lady who must have been pregnant, because when her floor got hit her stomach was cut open and you could see the baby. They dragged out 1 guy with a blue-gray suit on, his head was all red with blood. about 5 minutes later, there was a guy on the TV and ashleigh said "hey that’s my uncle bobby" and he said "the one time joe makes his flight, its over" and no body knew Joe was ashleighs father, because ever since her mom died, she never talked about her family and she started crying, and found out the guy in the blue-gray suit was her dad. Her and our friend Becky were crying madly because ashleigh's dad was engaged to becky's mom who worked in one of the twin towers. Luckily, her mom lived.

My friend's name was danille bowyer. I knew her since first grade, everyone knew she had cystic fibrosis, but we didn't think about it that much. Danielle was a happy girl that made everyone happy for some reason. No matter what you never saw her worried. Danielle had courage far greater than anyone that I know. One day she went in to see if she could have an emergency liver transplant, and the found something far worse. Even though she looked fine on the outside, her insides were past dead. They found that her gaulbladder was infected, and liver was wasn't touched, but everything else was gone. They did a biopsy 3 times, and on the 3rd time they cut her by acident. She was put on life support and started bleeding to death. They decided to pull the plug because she was past dead anyways, and would suffer if left alive. My point is no one got to say good bye, they didnt know she was in surgery, because she didnt want them worrying. She knew she may not make it and didnt want tears. I think she is and was the strongest person in the world to be so young(12) and still be herself.

Last year my little brother, only 6 years old then, caught a disease called HSP. This is a blood disorder that can shut down your kidneys. My little brother is still battling this disease. That same year my mother found out she had Psuedo Tumor Cerebri, which in plain english is, a fake tumor. This is caused by high spinal fluid rising into your brain. Right after her doctors found out, my mom had a stroke. she then, a month later, needed to have surgery to have her lower spine rebuilt. Only a month after this, my father had neck surgery because he had a broken vertabrae in his upper spine. About amonth after that he was in a car accident, but luckily had no serious injuries. About two months before that, my grandpa, great-grandpa, aunt & uncle passed away, all in a time period of a month. About two weeks after my dad had surgery we found out that my grandma(on my dads side) had fast spreading lung cancer. She has been recieving Chemo and Radiation for about three months now. Ihave had to be the rock through these experiences and they have each changed my life for the better in a different way. I couldn't have gotten through this without all of my best friends and relatives. I love them all.
